One of the important programs that our partners have been building is focused on trauma therapy and counseling for the children rescued from early marriage, FGM, trafficking, and abuse. We fundraised for the land and home which is now Hope Beyond Transitional Center over a year ago. We have been thoughtfully working with our partners to build up specific sustainability programs needed to fund the resources that the kids would need to receive holistic care.

Over the past month, several of the Hope Beyond staff have attended 2 different trauma trainings in Nairobi. Becoming trauma-informed is essential to building a strong foundation and their feedback shows that this was time and funds well spent. We share this because we want you to know that when YOU give to Just One Africa, YOU are giving amazing leaders the ability to learn how to better serve vulnerable populations, creating better pathways to healing body, soul, and spirit.

That is something we want to get behind and we are so thankful that YOU choose to support life-changing programs and GIVE to make opportunities like this possible. We are so thankful to Kutoa Project and First Aid Arts for their important work and heart to see those that are hurting find healing and new beginnings.

Here is some feedback from our partners and staff on what they learned through the trauma training:

“By integrating Trauma Healing not only on the Children but also the parents and guardians of the children at Hope Beyond as we seek to re-integrate them back to the community. There are simply so many people that are hurting amongst us which fuels various forms of violence and abuse resulting in more children abuse and such.” – John

“In conclusion, therefore, the 2 trainings based on how to care for ourselves as caregivers and how to care for the people we serve. We will put into action every single aspect because a change in an individual is a chance in society and a change in the world!!  TOGETHER WE CAN BRING CHANGE AND MAKE THE WORLD MORE BEAUTIFUL” – Purity
