Together we raised the funds needed for Lenkai Christian School to purchase the property, furnish the home for the care and counseling of abused and vulnerable children, and hire trained staff to begin this much needed transitional home.
What is Hope Beyond Transitional Center?
Just One Africa has partnered with John and Dorcus Parit of Lenkai Christian School and Rescue Center in southern Kenya to see children realize that they are loved and that they are worth loving. They are dedicated local leaders who have the vision, heart, and passion for seeing hope restored to the hopeless and healing come to the broken. The Hope Beyond Transitional Center will provide safe refuge, necessary medical care, counseling and trauma therapy, quality education and critical support to many children who have been rescued from diverse challenging and abusive realities including FGM and early child marriage.
Important Details about the property:
- Five acres including a 4-bedroom house with office space for a social worker/counselor
- Working borehole (well)
- Animal stalls for cows, goats, and hutches for chickens and rabbits
- Immediate farming as the entire property is currently growing fruit and vegetable crops
- Fully sustainable from the benefits of food security and water accessibility
- Located 5 minutes from Lenkai Christian School
- The whole property is fenced for security
Background:
Loitokitok District, where the Hope Beyond Transitional Center is located, is inhabited by the Maasai community who has traversed this area, and neighboring counties for generations. The Maasai are predominantly nomadic pastoralists and have a rich culture that shows the great respect they have for the environment, resourcefulness with natural resources, beautiful singing and dancing as well as developing a strong community. They are commonly known for sticking to their traditional beliefs, practicing some of their age-old traditions which have seen been outlawed by the government such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Early Child Marriage, Forced Marriage, use of young boys to look after livestock and hard manual labor, among others.
Kajiado County has some of the highest cases of FGM in the country of Kenya as per the latest statistics. It is important to note that child abuse occurs in many forms which are widespread even in the other communities that have moved in. It is in this environment that Hope Beyond Transitional Center becomes a very critical point of intervention, providing a safe haven and a unique opportunity for internal healing, counseling, spiritual nourishment and importation of other skills to the many children who may seek refuge.

Just One Africa is a 501(c)3 nonprofit partnering with local leaders in Kenya to create sustainable solutions for orphans and vulnerable children by addressing the clean water crisis and creating hope through care, education, and community development.
This is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen in my life. Putting into consideration of African-enriched culture, you will believe that only those who have been touched my the power of God and His Abundant Grace can do this mighty work. May God continue granting you His favor.
