What Do We Do?
Our trips have two main goals. First, we distribute much needed water filters to a number of villages, primarily around the Kisumu/Bondo region and the Amboseli area in Southern Kenya. We also train the recipients of these filters on how to use them and other hygiene related skills. Many children and adults in these villages suffer from water-borne diseases that are easily prevented with the water filters and basic hygiene understandings.
We spend time with the boys and girls at Valley Light Home and Hope Beyond Rescue Center. Both centers care for vulnerable children and orphans. We may work on some projects around the farm, but the majority of our time there will be to love the children and invest in who they are. We also may work with a primary school that we have worked with on past team trips. This is an exceptional school and they strive to bring an excellent education to their students. We supplement with educational materials for both teachers and students.
We may host a medical clinic in a nearby slum, as well as provide food and hope to many of the widows there. There will also be time for sightseeing and experiencing Kenya’s many wonderful natural features and diverse cultures.
