There are over 44 million people living in Kenya, of which almost 18 million (43 percent) do not have access to clean water. A true water crisis. Over 3,100 children die every year from diarrhea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation in Kenya. YOU can save lives!
Just One Africa partners with the amazing people of Kenya to bring hope!
Kenya is slightly smaller than the state of Texas and yet it is brimming with 44 million people with no consistent access to clean, safe water. Common water sources are local watering holes for animals and people alike, runoff from Mt. Kilimanjaro, a small stream, or Lake Victoria (filled with raw sewage, industrial waste, parasites, bacteria, and disease.)
Water-borne diseases are a huge health problem in Kenya, as the people have been left unprotected against epidemics such as cholera, typhoid, and parasitic worms. The rate of exposure is extremely high because the water is not only contaminated at the basins and pumps where it is collected, but also the containers are almost always “found,” second-hand objects, often previously used for oil, fertilizer, or wastes.
The water filters we use are simple, effective, and save lives. They are capable of filtering up to 1 million gallons of clean, safe water and do not require any replaceable parts. With a gift of $65 YOU can bring health to schools, villages, and orphanages, and allow families to thrive. YOU can help change the world!
